GLASS FIRING INSTRUCTIONS
Place glass on floor of kiln, place .022 cone in kiln. Prop kiln lid open with a two to four inch post, place peephole plugs in. Turn on switches and allow kiln to heat until all smoking has stopped, then close kiln lid. Check the cone about every five minutes until the cone has matured, then turn off the kiln switches and open the kiln lid enough to insert the two to four inch post to hold the kiln lid open. Allow the kiln to cool. Do not stack or post the glass. Allow three inches of clearance around each piece of glass and from the sides of the kiln. This prevents a build up of the temperature. Always vent the kiln at the end of the firing. Always fire opal glass with a .022 cone. Automatic kilns will not vent the kiln for you, be sure you are there at the proper time to vent the kiln lid.
Enamel on glass is fired as above, after the enamel has been thoroughly dried at room temperature.
All of the above glass paints have been formulated to mature when fired to cone .022 or approximately 1080 degrees Fahrenheit.
